The establishment (San Francisco Metro Transit Authority & the Public Utilities Commission of California) would like to prevent this from happening.
I lived in SF (Frisco City as the natives call it*), in the late 90's and again in 2003-2004. One of my biggest complaints was the lack of viable point to point transportation options. I was caught numerous times in The Mission/North Beach etc... after last call and simply could not find a cab...
I refuse to drive if I am drinking, so it was very frustrating to not be able to pay someone to drive me home. I would argue with cabbies that if they allowed more cabs on the streets, people would use them more and drive less (knowing that we could get home), thus resulting in more fares for the cabs...you can guess how these conversations ended.
I wish Uber Cab well in getting their business back up and running.
*I know San Franciscans hate the nicknames :)
No one calls the city Frisco unless you are a tourist from Nebraska.
ReplyDelete3 years later I reply ;) I guess you didn't see the * where I pointed that out...it was an obvious jab at that...
